16th Annual Reston Sprint Triathlon—Friday-Sunday, June 3-5, 2022, Benefitting Cornerstones— A variety of shifts and jobs is available for this wonderful Reston tradition. 

Spanish Speaking Resume WritersOngoing PRIORITY Need—Assist clients in preparing their resumes in English, so that they can achieve self-sufficiency through employment.  The ability to speak and understand Spanish as well as the ability to prepare a written resume is necessary.

Connected Community Engagement Events at Cornerstones Community Sites in Reston and Herndon, May and June, 2022—Assist staff at our neighborhood community centers as they work to engage with residents through fun events like ice-cream socials, classes, cookouts, and more. 

Cornerstones/ON Youth Career Symposium by Opportunity Neighborhood Program–Saturday, May 21, 2022. Multiple shifts and needs between 8 am – 3:00 pm at the Rowan Tree in Herndon.  10 volunteers needed to help with basic logistical support (set-up/clean-up, checking-in teens, helping students find which breakout session they’re looking for, etc.), as well as serving food and supporting transitions from each section of the symposium. Volunteers for the following specialties could also add to the offerings of the symposium as break out session leaders or speakers:

  • Breakout sessions:
    • Influencer/Unique career (artist, musician, social media influencer, etc.)
    • Engineering (all types)
    • Human services/Social services
    • College admissions process (registrar, local university/community college admin)
    • Banking/investment
  • Personal development block:
    • A volunteer who can educate teens on the basic fundamentals of financial literacy
    • College admissions process (registrar, local university/community college admin)
    • Mindfulness coach/guided visualization expert

Volunteers that have experience with audio-visual tools are also needed.
