September 30th marks the closing date of 2021’s Northern Virginia Senior Olympics (NVSO).
Hundreds of participants came out to events that help promote health, fitness, and psychological well-being for senior adults. Friendly competition mixed with camaraderie set a jubilant tone for all patrons, spectators, participants, volunteers.
As an entirely volunteer-run organization, NVSO had more than 30 volunteers at approximately 30 events helping participants check-in, keep time, referee, and more. Because of volunteers like these returning year after year, NVSO (minus the 2020 break due to the pandemic) has become a yearly tradition creating countless memories for individuals, friends, and families across our community.
By working with local Northern Virginia parks and recreation departments and other agencies, NVSO has been a continued success.
Thank you to everyone who was involved with NVSO! We hope everyone keeps this tradition alive by joining NVSO in 2022. It’s events like these that improve the quality of life across the community!
