NVSO Calling for Volunteers: High Need for Opening Day

Northern Virginia Senior Olympics (NVSO) is the tradition you and your family haven’t known you’ve wanted to join!

This great event occurring September 18-30th promotes health, fitness, and psychological well-being for senior adults by providing opportunities for participation, competition, self-improvement, and fellowship through various athletic and recreational events.

Volunteers are the backbone to NVSO. They help welcome participants, keep time, and more.

Training is done on-site the day of the event. If you’re able to push a button (timer), you can volunteer!

The highest need of volunteers are needed for Opening Day!

Opening Day takes place Thomas Jefferson Community Center in Arlington.

After the opening ceremony, volunteers will be paired with track participants (one volunteer/participant), where they will keep time with a stop watch and be the cheerleader to that participant.

You don’t need to know anything about track or any other sport. All training is provided at the event. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their families as well!

Opening Day and Swimming has the highest need of volunteers, as volunteers are tasked to keep time during heats.

Please make sure to contact RSVP Volunteer Specialist, Shannon White, at swhite@volunteerfairfax.org if you are interested in volunteering.
