Cornerstones has been a pillar in the DMV for nearly 50 years. Families living in this region, with its notoriously high cost of living, can struggle to overcome tough economic times. Through services like

  • Housing
  • Food
  • Financial assistance
  • Child and youth services
  • Community and family strengthening
  • Community resource centers.

  • Volunteer Leader at SNAP Market Table at Reston’s Farmers Market
    • Time: Saturdays in October through mid-November
    • Background check and fingerprinting required
    • Meet at Cornerstones Food Pantry building at 7:15 am to pick up materials
    • Head to Farmers Market, and plan to stay to about 12:30 pm
      • Greet clients and vendors
      • Set up booth
      • Collect and record tokens from vendors for reimbursement
      • Training provided
      • Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes
      • COVID waiver, mask, and social distancing required
  • Volunteer Zoom Tech Leader Needed to Help with Employment Services Resource Fair
    • Help manage Zoom sessions for Cornerstones Resource Fairs
      • Run videos
      • Make sure Zoom runs smoothly
      • Help needed on the following
        • Saturday, August 28th: 10:00-1:45 pm
        • Wednesday evenings on September 1st, 8th, 22nd
  • Yom Kippur Food Driver Sorters
    • Wednesday, September 15: 4:45-8:00 pm
      • Collect food donations arriving from congregants
      • Transport food to food pantry
    • Thursday, September 16
      • Shifts
        • 9:00-12:00 pm
        • 12:00-3:00 pm
      • Help sort food for donations
  • Winter Coat Drive
    • Help transport, sort, hang, distribute coats, hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves to community members
    • Dates:
      • Saturday, October 23rd
      • Friday, November 12th
      • Saturday, November 13th
      • Saturday, December 11th
    • Shifts:
      • 2.5 hours long between 9:00-1:30 pm
  • Scouting for a Food Drive
    • Help receive, sort, and weigh food brought in by a local Boy Scouts Troop in their Scouting for Food campaign
    • Dates:
      • Saturday, November 13th
    • Shifts:
      • 10:30-1:30 pm
      • 1:00-4:00 pm
  • Packing Assistants for 50th Year Anniversary
    • Help pack and prepare celebration boxes for those registered for the 50th Anniversary Watch Party
    • Proceeds from tickets go back into supporting Cornerstones programs
    • Dates:
      • Monday, September 13th-Thursday, September 16th
    • Shifts:
      • 9:00-12:00 pm
