On Tuesday, June 15th, Capital Caring Health brought AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serving with RSVP-Northern Virginia into their Alexandria office.

Strown across a large conference table were journals, books on compassion, prayer blankets, and sweet and salty treats. One-by-one, gift bags were packed for the caregivers of the hospice patients Capital Caring Health serves. Each bag was topped with a thoughtful handmade card signed by an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer.
Five bags at a time were hooked through the volunteers’ arms and carried into the office of Katherine Knoble, Manager of Community and Volunteer Engagement. From there, they’d make their way to the front doors of the caregivers who care for ailing loved ones.

We thank Capital Caring Health, the AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers, and all others who have given their time and effort into bringing these care packages to fruition. Small gestures like these may not seem like much, but are in fact what often bring some breath and light into a person’s life as they navigate difficult times.
