By We’d like to congratulate Sandra Baron, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer serving with RSVP-Northern Virginia, for winning the 2021 Virginia National Service Award in AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Category.
Sandra Baron is a dedicated volunteer with Cornerstones helping fight food insecurity. She’s manned the front desk, helped stock and organize the shelves, distributed food at outdoor community events, and even directed traffic at distribution events (where she even landed a quote in the Washington Post this past March).
The dedication of Sandra, like so many other AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers, has proven inspirational throughout the community. Julie Strandlie, presenter of the 2021 Virginia National Service Awards, spoke, “Younger volunteers [at Cornerstones] a third of her age were trying to keep up with Sandra.”
We are beyond grateful to have Sandra Baron serving in Northern Virginia. We thank her for the time and effort she has selflessly given to the community.
