The Shepherd’s Center has a vision: A World Without Loneliness. To achieve that vision, they work hard to ensure that as members of the community age, they do so with dignity and experience a high quality of life. Services include health advocacy, decluttering advice, food pick-up and delivery, and friendly callers and visitors, including to but not limited to veterans.
Shepherd’s Center serving Annandale and Springfield has two available volunteer opportunities:
- Transportation Driver
- The volunteer will provide clients with necessary transportation to medical-related appointments such as:
- Doctor’s office
- Dentist
- Physical therapy
- Chemotherapy
- Etc.
- The volunteer will provide transportation to destinations that are non-medical such as:
- Grocery store
- Hairdresser
- Library
- Bank
- Select Shepherd’s Center functions
- Etc.
- You must provide your own vehicle, and have a current valid license and insurance.
- Volunteers are only responsible for transportation to/from events specified. The Shepherd’s Center support volunteers when setting limitations regarding unreasonable client requests.
- Drivers must wear masks and gloves at all times when transporting clients, as well as have windows cracked. The vehicle must also be wiped down prior to a client entering.
- The volunteer will provide clients with necessary transportation to medical-related appointments such as:
- Grant Writers
- Flexible schedule: work at your own pace.
- Help seek out and write grants to ensure the longevity of Shepherd’s Center Annandale/Springfield.
