Register for RSVP-Northern Virginia’s Special Saturday “Art of Volunteering in Retirement” Seminar,  on March 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Volunteer Fairfax Headquarters. The one-hour event is free and open to the public.

What is the “Art of Volunteering in Retirement?

“The art of successful volunteering in retirement is finding an experience that is fun, social, convenient and meaningful,” says Brandi Morris, RSVP’s program manager. “RSVP specializes in personally helping folks find their niche so they can fully utilize their interests and talents in retirement.”

“RSVP takes an innovative and creative approach to personally matching its volunteers with their ideal opportunities,” Brandi says.

March 21 Afternoon Info SessionRSVP offers more than 300 meaningful opportunities that include helping seniors age in place, assisting local food pantries, and teaching financial literacy. RSVP also recruits volunteers for various community events including the annual Northern Virginia Senior Olympics.

Several of RSVP’s nonprofit partners offer opportunities in the McLean Area including Vinson Hall, Riverbend Park and Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.   Representatives from some of RSVP’s partners will also be on hand to speak briefly about their volunteer needs. 

RSVP volunteers enjoy flexible schedules, free accident and liability insurance while serving, optional mileage and meal reimbursement and are invited to volunteer group projects and social gatherings.
