RSVP-Northern Virginia is proud to introduce its new volunteer specialist, Shannon White of Alexandria.
“We are excited to have Shannon on our team,” said RSVP Program Manager Brandi Morris. “She not only has a wealth of experience in volunteer recruitment and management, she also has a deep understanding of the community’s needs and the critical role volunteers play in meeting those needs.”
Shannon, a native of Alexandria, is a graduate of Thomas Edison High School in Franconia. She still resides in the Alexandria Area. Shannon says she enjoys staying involved in the community and volunteering when she can.
Before joining RSVP, Shannon was the volunteer coordinator for United Community, (formerly United Community Ministries), a nonprofit partner of RSVP that serves the community by “empowering adults, children, and families to transform their lives.”
In addition to her work in nonprofits, Shannon was a special education instructional assistant with Fairfax County Public Schools and has worked in youth programming for Fairfax County.
“I love the personal approach RSVP takes to support its members,” Shannon says. “I enjoy getting to know our volunteers and having the opportunity to help them reach their volunteer goals, find new passions and feel a sense of purpose.”
Shannon has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Longwood University in Farmville, Va. She plans to return to school to pursue her master’s degree.
Shannon says she enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends, especially her active little boy, 5-year-old Bennett.
Welcome Shannon!
