Most are one time events that we hope you will find convenient, fun and great opportunities to meet great people.

We have scheduled two info sessions for September  : Thursday, Sept. 5, in Burke, Va. and Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Reston. 

We still have some volunteer spots open for the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics

Image 218 copyRSVP-Northern Virginia is proud to again be the official volunteer provider of the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics.

This year’s NVSO held at more than two-dozen venues across Northern Virginia will depend on more than 125 volunteers to be a success. The games kick off Saturday, Sept. 14 and wrap up two weeks later, Sept. 28.

There are still volunteers spots that need to be filled at various events. For complete information on NVSO2019  and the easy to follow sign up link please visit our special NVSO page on the RSVP website at RSVP NVSO2019  Please remember, volunteering with the NVSO is a family affair. Volunteers as young as 16 can sign up to help at the games. You can also contact Brandi Morris at 703-403-5360 to learn more and sign up.

RSVP-Northern Virginia partner Green Spring Gardens is seeking volunteers to support the park’s annual Fall Garden Day, taking place Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019. 

Green Spring is seeking help with parking, greeting and counting visitors.

About Green Spring Gardens

(Taken from the Green Spring website) Green Spring Gardens, a Fairfax County Park Authority park,  is  a year-round gold mine of information and inspiration for the home gardener.

It’s an outdoor classroom, a museum, and a national historic site.  The park has a wooded stream valley with ponds, a naturalistic native plant garden, more than 20 thematic demonstration gardens, a greenhouse, a plant shop, two gift shops, a historic house, and a horticultural reference library.

The gardens and educational programs focus on practical landscaping techniques that are appropriate for the Washington metro area.  Park grounds are open from dawn to dusk.

Volunteers needed for to support Cornerstones’s Financial Literacy initiative

Volunteers in this program must commit to meeting with their mentee family twice a month from August to June. One of those dates per month is during the night classes that happen at our main office (11150 Sunset Hills Road, Suite 210, Reston, VA 20190) from 6:00 to 8:30pm. The other date is a coordinated meeting with the volunteer and the mentee outside of the class and this can be done based on their personal schedule.

Here are the dates for the class: August 19th 2019, September 9th 2019, October 7th 2019, November 4th 2019, December 2nd 2019, January 6th 2020, January 13th 2020, February 3rd 2020, March 2nd 2020, April 6th 2020, May 4th 2020, June 1st 2020. United Community seeking volunteer intern at its main office

imageUnited Community is seeking a volunteer to support its main office front desk. The front desk is responsible for handling incoming calls, greeting clients, and managing their movement through the appropriate process, greeting visitors/volunteers/donors, and maintaining the reception area.

Duration: 16-24 hours a week, flexible start date

APAH seeking volunteers for Admin help

apah-logoArlington Partnership for Affordable Housing is seeking a volunteer for  weekly assistance-admin and office Help:

One of APAH’s resident services coordinators is looking for 2-4 hours of weekly assistance with tasks related to resident services programming.

Tasks include flyer distribution (involves walking in and out of buildings in all weather, climbing stairs), data entry, and other support services as needed. Service would be at Columbia Hills Apartments, 1000 S Frederick Street, 22204.

Preferred days: Tues, Wed or Thursday. Days and shift time will be coordinated by the volunteer and the APAH staff manager

Capital Caring seeks volunteers for Tuck-In Call

Capital Caring is in need of volunteers who would like to call patients or caregivers as part of our Tuck-In Call program. This is calling and asking if they have enough supplies, answering questions and lending some verbal support.

It is every Wednesday and Thursday, they can choose one day if they wish from about 10:00 to 2:00, depending on when the calls are completed.

Celebrate VolunteerFest with RSVP, Oct. 26

Come join us for a VolunteerFest project at United Community! We will be helping with their monthly Mobile Market Fresh Produce Distribution. Volunteer tasks include stocking, organizing, and distributing fruit and vegetables, as well as help clients “shop”.

RSVP-Northern Virginia, the largest volunteer group for seniors and retirees in the region,  offers more than 300 meaningful, fun and social  opportunities that include helping seniors age in place, assisting local food pantries, supporting local parks and teaching financial literacy.

RSVP also recruits volunteers for various community events including the annual Northern Virginia Senior Olympics taking place Sept. 14-28.
