With heavy hearts, the staff and volunteers at RSVP-Northern Virginia, Volunteer Fairfax, Volunteer Arlington and Volunteer Alexandria and its partners, sends its deepest condolences to RSVP volunteer Carol Campbell and her family and friends. Carol’s husband Gene Campbell of Alexandria, also an RSVP volunteer, passed away July 1, 2019, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia.
Gene was a familiar and always friendly face at RSVP monthly group service projects. The photo above was taken during a group service project at River Farm in Alexandria.

Gene always came to projects wearing a smile and did great work. He made a true difference in the community. Gene and Carol were married in October 1980.
In addition to his RSVP volunteer work, Gene also served his country in the U.S. Military during the Vietnam War in the late 1960’s. Below are two photos of Gene provided by a family friend taken during that period.
There is a Celebration of Life Service for Gene Campbell scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2019, from 12 noon to 2 pm. at the Demaine Chapel, 520 S. Washington Street, in Alexandria, VA 22314
His internment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, outside Seattle, Washington, later this year. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
Gene we will miss you! Thank you for your service, may you rest in peace.
