Green Spring Gardens, operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority, is preparing for a tour by attendees of the 2019 American Public Gardeners Association Conference being held in Washington, June 17-21.
Green Spring, one of the region’s premier public gardens, is located at 4603 Green Spring Rd, Alexandria, VA 22312. The park is located off Route 236 between Annandale and Alexandria. The park has a wooded stream valley with ponds, a naturalistic native plant garden, more than 20 thematic demonstration gardens, a greenhouse, a plant shop, two gift shops, a historic house, and a horticultural reference library. Park grounds are open from dawn to dusk. Ample parking is available.
Garden volunteers are needed to help plant, weed and mulch. If you enjoy working in the soil, this is a great opportunity to meet other gardeners and learn more about plants. Interested volunteers should wear comfortable garden clothes, closed-toe shoes, and garden gloves. Hat, water and sunscreen are also recommended.
Gardening tools and refreshments will be provided.
