It is going to be a wet week. Volunteer Fairfax needs your help.
As of the morning of Sept. 11, 2018, Hurricane Florence is currently a category 4 between the Bahamas and Bermuda looking to come to the U.S. shoreline somewhere along the Virginia and South Carolina coasts late Thursday or early Friday.
It is predicted to grow in strength before landfall. States of emergency have been declared in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. It is predicted that we in Fairfax may feel the remnants of the storm this weekend, but may begin to feel the tropical storms winds as early as Wednesday.
Florence has the potential to be a significant weather event for our coastline, with flooding in our region, and possibly shelter operations for evacuees throughout our county.
Our team of emergency managers is mobilizing to meet the upcoming demands and we are reaching out to you to better learn our capacity for volunteer support.
Below you will find a link to a survey to capture your availability over the next ten days. This survey does not commit you to a shift or a job but it allows us to know who we can reach out to and when. It should take 2 minutes to complete.
Once we have a list of those available, we will share volunteer opportunities as they arise.
