Volunteers are needed for the CarFit program which helps “fit” a vehicle to older adults to enhance comfort and improve safety.
Volunteers use a 12-point checklist to assess the driver’s positioning on the gas and brake pedals, mirrors, seat, head rests and more. Volunteers must be licensed drivers, have good time management skills and be able to stoop down.
A four-hour mandatory training will be held on September 6, and then the CarFit events will take place midday on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for 2 hours at various locations around Fairfax County.
To learn more or if you have any questions, contact Carol Wright at Carol.Wright@fairfaxcounty.gov or call 703-324-5406. You can sign up to volunteer by clicking here.
