RSVP Northern Virginia will hold a free seminar on senior volunteerism, Tuesday, July 31, at 10:30 a.m., at the Kingstowne Library in the Alexandria Area of Fairfax County. The one-hour event is free and open to the public.
RSVP is the region’s largest volunteer network for people 55-years-old and better and provides individualized support to seniors seeking service opportunities in and around Fairfax County, Arlington County and the City of Alexandria.
The hour-long session will be held at the library located at 6500 Landsdowne Centre Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315. Free parking is available.
RSVP offers more than 200 meaningful opportunities. RSVP volunteers help seniors age in place, they assist local veterans in need, and they help prepare communities for disasters. RSVP also recruits volunteers for various community events including for the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics. Several of RSVP’s nonprofit partners are based near Kingstowne including Huntley Meadows Park, United Community Ministries Alexandria and New Hope Housing.
RSVP volunteers enjoy flexible schedules, free accident and liability insurance while serving, optional mileage and meal reimbursement and are invited to volunteer group projects and social gatherings.
